The Secret of Seshat

Seshat means “female scribe”, I will tell you stories about king tut, luxor tours, egypt tours and other adventure stories from different regions in Egypt.

Who Seshat?

My name is Seshat, the written word’s Egyptian goddess, Seshat means “female scribe” and you can see me on the ancient Egyptian ruins as a female wearing a leopard skin draped over her robe with a seven-pointed star headdress arched by a crescent in a bow form, I will tell you stories about king tut, luxor tours, egypt tours and other adventure stories from different regions in Egypt.

If you focus on me, you will find that my look is symbolizing for supreme authority, because this was common in the Egyptian mythology and legends for a person to wear the defeated enemy skin to benefit on the foe’s powers.

However, the stars on my headdress were closely associated with the gods’ kingdom and their roles, and number seven refers to completeness and perfection.

The leopard skin which I wore is symbolizing my protection from, power over, danger as leopards were famous for being a predator.

Meanwhile, the crescent above my headdress, represent a bow and means precision and dexterity.

Seshat’s Responsibilities

I had a lot of responsibilities in ancient Egypt like record keeping, measurements, accounting, Patroness of libraries and librarians,

In addition to I was the House of Life’s keeper (temple library, scriptorium, writer’s workshop), Celestial Librarian, Census-taking, the builders’ mistress (patroness of construction), and the dead’s friend in the afterlife.
